Was NSA Boss Ampofo Ankrah’s Phone Hacked? GWF President Questions Director’s Claim of Unawareness of Elections

Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib, President of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF) and Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe, has expressed surprise at claims by the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Ampofo Ankrah, that he was unaware of the Federation’s elections held on Friday, 9th May 2025.

In an interview on Asempa FM’s SportsNite Show, Hon. Shaib said, “The election date was agreed upon and communicated to all stakeholders, including the NSA boss. Messages were sent to inform and remind him ahead of time, so I was surprised when he said he didn’t know.”

He questioned the NSA Director’s claim, asking, “I sent him the message myself. Was his phone hacked?” he stated

Despite a last-minute request from Mr. Ankrah to halt the election, the Federation proceeded. Hon. Shaib explained, “The constitution of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation mandates that elections be held every four years. We had no option but to proceed.”
