Team Ghana Clinches Four Medals at CAA U-18/U-20 African Athletics Championships in Nigeria

Ghana delivered an impressive showing at the just-ended CAA U-18/U-20 African Athletics Championships held at the M.K.O. Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, Nigeria, bagging a total of four medals across various track events.

Leading the medal haul was Tettey Philip Odjer, who secured a silver medal in the Men’s Under-18 400m final. Odjer clocked an impressive 47.87 seconds, finishing second in a hotly contested race and earning Ghana its highest placement at the championship.

In the hurdles events, Ghana collected three bronze medals. Promising athlete Arthur Mahalaleel Kwasi claimed bronze in the Men’s Under-18 110m hurdles with a swift time of 13.95 seconds, showing excellent form and composure throughout the heats and final.

Alex Boateng Appiah

Another standout performance came from Boateng Appiah Alex, who secured a bronze medal in the Men’s Under-18 400m hurdles. Appiah finished with a time of 53.89 seconds, capping off a strong race in a highly competitive final.

Esther Manu

On the women’s side, Manu Esther also made the podium for Ghana, earning a bronze medal in the Women’s Under-18 400m hurdles. She crossed the finish line in 1:01.37, holding off tough competition to claim third place and round out Ghana’s medal tally at the championship.

The 2025 edition of the CAA U-18/U-20 African Athletics Championships once again showcased Ghana’s rising talent in athletics, with the young stars bringing home one silver and three bronze medals to lift the nation’s flag high on the continental stage.
