Kurt Okraku Pledges Prudent Use of $2 Million MTN Sponsorship for Ghana Football
President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has pledged that the $2 million sponsorship package from MTN Ghana will be managed responsibly to deliver maximum benefits to the nation’s football.
MTN Ghana has entered into a landmark agreement with the GFA, becoming the headline sponsor for all four national football teams – the Black Stars, Black Queens, Black Satellites, Black Starlets – as well as the Elite Under-19 Championship for the next two years.
The deal, officially signed at a colourful ceremony at the MTN House in Accra on Thursday, August 14, 2025, will run until August 2027. It is aimed at providing essential financial and logistical backing to support team development, training, and preparations for major competitions.
Speaking at the event, Okraku assured that the funds will be used with integrity and transparency.
“We will judiciously use these resources. We will keep this partnership alive. We will play our part. And we will ensure that we stand shoulder to shoulder with MTN Ghana in good times and bad, as we strive to bring hope and livelihood to our young boys and girls who would not normally be found in the woods of Ghana,” he said.
The GFA President also expressed deep gratitude to MTN Ghana for their sustained commitment to supporting Ghana football, describing the partnership as a crucial step in the sport’s revival and growth.
