Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams has voiced his displeasure over the officiating during his team’s Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Barcelona in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Ghanaian international had an 86th-minute goal disallowed following a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review, as Barcelona advanced to the final with a 2-0 victory.

Barcelona took the lead in the 17th minute through Gavi before teenage sensation Lamine Yamal added a second after the halftime break.

Williams, clearly frustrated, criticized the performance of referee Miguel Ortiz, suggesting that his team was unfairly treated during the encounter.

“It was like playing away from home,” Williams lamented in a post-match interview. “I find it strange that these types of plays are cancelled. I don’t think it’s fair.”

The forward also added, “It seems that the rules are not the same for everyone,” implying inconsistency in the application of officiating standards.

With their victory, Barcelona advanced to the final, where they will face the winner of the second semi-final between Real Madrid and Real Mallorca.
