GOC President Richard Akpokavie Inspires Team Ghana Ahead of 2025 Africa School Games in Algeria

The President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Mr. Richard Akpokavie, along with members of the GOC Board, on Sunday, July 20, met with Team Ghana athletes preparing for the upcoming Africa School Games in Algeria.

The team, comprising young athletes selected from various schools across the country, will represent Ghana at the continental event scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 5, 2025.

During the visit, President Akpokavie delivered a motivating address, urging the athletes to embrace the Team Ghana slogan, “Daring to Win,” as they prepare to compete on the African stage. He emphasized that their journey toward becoming future champions begins now and encouraged them to carry the nation’s hopes with pride and determination.

Team Ghana is scheduled to depart for Algeria on Tuesday, July 22, ahead of the opening ceremony. The Africa School Games will feature top student-athletes from across the continent, competing in a variety of disciplines.

The GOC’s visit underscores its ongoing commitment to youth development and Ghana’s vision of nurturing a new generation of elite athletes through school sports.
