Asante Kotoko’s latest acquisition, Shayibu Abubakari, has expressed his readiness to give his all to the club following his switch from Karela United in the current transfer window.

The 21-year-old right-back penned a three-year contract with the Porcupine Warriors, officially bringing an end to his time at Karela United. His arrival marks a continued push by the Kumasi-based club to bolster their squad ahead of the 2025/26 football season.

Abubakari becomes the 10th player to join the Ghanaian giants this window.

Speaking to the club’s media team, Abubakari shared his excitement and determination about his new chapter at Kotoko.

“I’m still young and I see this as a big opportunity to progress in my career. This is a great environment to learn, and I’m particularly looking forward to working with Lord Amoah and pushing myself every day. I’m here to grow and to give everything for this club,” he said.

Abubakari is well-versed in Ghana Premier League football, having previously featured for Real Tamale United.

With the new season approaching, the versatile full-back is expected to provide depth and competition on the right side of defence as Kotoko aims for a strong domestic campaign.
