Ghana forward Inaki Williams has set his sights on scoring his first goal at the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the Black Stars prepare for a decisive Group L showdown against Croatia on Saturday.

The Athletic Club striker is expected to play a key role in Ghana’s final group-stage fixture after returning to the starting lineup in the goalless draw with England. Williams missed the Black Stars’ tournament opener against Panama but is now hoping to make a decisive contribution in front of goal.

With qualification for the Round of 32 hanging in the balance, the 31-year-old says finding the net would be a special moment, although securing victory for Ghana remains his top priority.

“I hope to score against Croatia, but the most important thing is the three points,” Williams told SuperSport.

The Black Stars enter the encounter on the back of an unbeaten start to the tournament, having defeated Panama before holding England to a hard-fought draw.

Those results have left Carlos Queiroz’s side on four points, putting them in a strong position ahead of the final round of Group L fixtures.

A victory over Croatia would not only guarantee Ghana a place in the knockout stages but could also see the four-time African champions finish at the top of the group, depending on the outcome of the other fixture.

Croatia, meanwhile, head into the contest needing all three points to keep their World Cup hopes alive, setting up a high-stakes encounter in Philadelphia.

Williams will be eager to cap his return to the team with a memorable performance as Ghana look to secure qualification for the knockout rounds for the first time since their historic run at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The decisive Group L clash is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, with kick-off set for 21:00 GMT.
