Nsoatreman Football Club has officially withdrawn from the ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.

The decision comes in the wake of the tragic events that unfolded during their Matchday 19 fixture against Asante Kotoko at Nana Konamansah Park on Sunday.

The match was marred by violence, leading to the death of Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley, a member of Asante Kotoko’s Supporters’ Communication Team. Frimpong was fatally stabbed by unknown assailants, an incident that has sent shockwaves through the football community.

In response, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) imposed an indefinite ban on Nsoatreman FC’s home ground, further adding to the turmoil surrounding the club. These factors, coupled with the gravity of the tragedy, have led the club to withdraw from the competition indefinitely.

The withdrawal of Nsoatreman FC marks a significant moment in Ghanaian football, as clubs, fans, and administrators continue to mourn the loss of life and reflect on the urgent need for stricter security measures at league venues.
