Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has expressed his frustration over the poor playing surface at the Wenchi Sports Stadium following his team’s goalless draw against Young Apostles on Wednesday.

The Porcupine Warriors traveled to Wenchi to face the newly promoted side in a rescheduled Matchday 20 fixture of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

Despite creating promising goal-scoring opportunities, Kotoko was unable to break the deadlock and had to settle for a point.

In his post-match interview, Coach Ogum attributed the challenging nature of the game to the poor pitch conditions, which he believes negatively impacted the playing style of both teams.

“It was a very physical game, and I think that was largely due to the nature of the pitch,” he explained. “The pitch did not allow both teams to keep the ball on the ground and play. Anytime the ball bounced or was passed, it changed direction, making it difficult for both teams to play.”

The result saw Asante Kotoko surrender their position at the top of the league table. Bibiani Gold Stars have now taken the lead with 40 points, edging out Kotoko by just one point.
