Ghana’s senior women’s national football team, the Black Queens, kicked off their first training session in Senegal on Thursday, April 3, as part of their nine-day training tour ahead of the rescheduled 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The session marked the beginning of a crucial phase in the team’s preparations under head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren.

All 22 players named in the squad for the tour were present, showcasing a full-strength contingent ready to fine-tune tactics and team chemistry.

Among those taking part in the session were five players who had missed out on the team’s February training camp in Morocco — the Swede’s first assignment since taking charge of the Black Queens.

The team’s presence in Senegal is expected to serve as both a fitness booster and a tactical test ground, with two friendly matches lined up against the Teranga Lionesses. Ghana will face Senegal in back-to-back fixtures scheduled for April 5 and April 8.
