Kofi Adams Backs Queiroz Appointment, Tips Experience to Lift Black Stars
Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has thrown his full support behind newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz, expressing confidence in the veteran tactician’s ability to steer the national team at the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
Queiroz, 73, has been handed a short-term four-month deal to lead Ghana into the global tournament in North America, replacing Otto Addo following a string of underwhelming results during the March international window.
The Portuguese manager was formally introduced to the sector minister at the Sports Ministry ahead of his official unveiling at the Alisa Hotel, with key figures including Kurt Okraku and members of the Ghana Football Association in attendance.
Speaking after the meeting, Adams highlighted Queiroz’s vast experience as a major asset for the national team.
“We are going to benefit from him, and as the saying goes, the old wine tastes the best,” he said.
“He has gathered experience all over, and his experience will be put before the Black Stars of Ghana, and so we are so lucky to have such an experienced coach, not just at the club level but at the national level and at the World Cup stage,” Adams added.
Ghana, making their fifth appearance at the World Cup, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama national football team, England national football team and Croatia national football team.
With early exits in recent editions still fresh, expectations are rising for the Black Stars to mount a stronger challenge under the guidance of their new coach.
