Ibrahim Osman delivered a standout performance for Birmingham City FC on Wednesday night, producing a goal and an assist to guide his side to a 2-1 victory over Preston North End in the Championship.

The Round 44 encounter at St Andrew’s Stadium saw the Ghanaian forward impose himself early, constantly troubling defenders with his pace and direct running.

His first decisive contribution came in the 10th minute when he set up Jay Stansfield with a precise pass, allowing the striker to finish confidently and put the hosts in front.

Osman then took centre stage moments later. Picking up possession on the flank, he beat his marker with a sharp turn before cutting inside and curling a superb effort into the far corner to double Birmingham’s advantage.

However, his evening was cut short when he was forced off in the 37th minute due to an apparent injury concern. Despite the early exit, his impact remained decisive, earning him the highest match rating.

Preston pulled one back through Andrew Hughes, but Birmingham held firm to secure maximum points, with Osman’s contribution ultimately proving the difference.
