Kurt Okraku says he believes no public figure in Ghana faces more criticism than him apart from President John Mahama.

The Ghana Football Association president made the remarks during the launch of the UK Talent Identification Programme, where he reflected on the intense scrutiny surrounding his leadership of Ghana football.

According to Okraku, discussions about football in the country almost always revolve around him, particularly whenever issues involving the national teams arise.

“I am not too sure that in our country, there are more than two people who are more criticised than my good self,” he said.

“You take the president of the country out, the next most criticised person is Kurt Okraku.”

The football administrator pointed to the extensive media attention on the sport as a major reason behind the constant criticism directed at him.

“Each radio station has dedicated airtime to football and believe me, every second of the day, the name Kurt Okraku is mentioned,” he added.

Okraku also referenced reactions to the recently announced Black Stars squad under head coach Carlos Queiroz, insisting he often becomes the main target for supporters online.

“The Black Stars squad was released by head coach Carlos Queiroz, go on social media and see who is attacked, it’s Kurt.”

His comments come at a time when Ghana continues preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with upcoming friendly matches against Wales and Jamaica expected to shape the final squad for the tournament.

The Black Stars have been placed in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama as they seek to reach the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time since 2010.
