Newly appointed Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has assured fans of his unwavering commitment to guiding the Porcupine Warriors in the chase for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title, despite sitting fourth on the table.

Zito, who replaced Prosper Narteh Ogum earlier this month, began his tenure with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Aduana Stars. Now, as Kotoko prepare for their high-stakes Super Clash against rivals Hearts of Oak on Sunday, the veteran tactician is aiming to maintain momentum.

Speaking in a pre-match interview with AKSC Media, Coach Zito emphasized that Kotoko remain in the title race and will continue to push until the final whistle of the season.

“What we are more concerned about now is that let’s try to get the result, and the result will manifest in our dreams,” Zito stated.

“I won’t say we are going to win the league, but we are going to fight for it. Until the league ends, I will never lose hope. We are still on them, we are playing, we should be winning, and the rest will be decided.”

Asante Kotoko currently trail league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars by six points, but a win against Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, May 4, could significantly boost their title hopes.

The Super Clash is one of the most anticipated fixtures of the Ghanaian football calendar, and this edition promises even more intensity with both teams needing points for different reasons—Kotoko to keep pace at the top and Hearts to stabilize their form.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM GMT.
