Captain of the Black Stars, Jordan Ayew, believes the team does not require additions ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The experienced forward shared his thoughts in an interview with Asempa FM, praising the current squad for their efforts during the qualifying campaign and insisting the group deserves the opportunity to represent Ghana at the global tournament.

According to Ayew, the players who helped secure qualification have proven their worth and should remain the core of the team moving forward.

“I think the players who played during the qualifiers have done extremely well,” Ayew said.

“I don’t think we need any additions. I believe we have a good team, and as time goes on, we are improving.”

The captain acknowledged that the Black Stars endured disappointment after failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, but he maintains that the squad is developing positively under head coach Otto Addo.

“The unity is getting better and everything is improving. I don’t think this is the right time to make changes,” he added.

Ayew was instrumental in Ghana’s qualification campaign, finishing with 14 goal involvements — seven goals and seven assists — to help guide the team to the tournament.

However, the Leicester City attacker admitted that the final decision on squad selection ultimately rests with the technical team.

“To be honest, on the technical side, the coach will know whom to attach or select,” he said.

At the World Cup, Ghana have been placed in Group L where they will face the England national football team, Croatia national football team, and the Panama national football team in what promises to be a challenging group.
