Chairman of Parliament’s Youth and Sports Committee, Hon. Ernest Henry Norgbey, has voiced strong belief in Ghana’s ability to progress from Group L at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite being paired with England, Croatia and Panama in what many consider a demanding draw.

In an interview with ABC News GH TV, the Ashaiman legislator underscored the need for Ghana to maintain focus and treat every opponent with respect throughout the competition.

“It’s a tricky group, and we cannot underrate any team,” he cautioned. “We have to take it one game at a time.”

While acknowledging the calibre of the opposition, Hon. Norgbey made clear his confidence in the Black Stars’ ability to advance beyond the group phase.

“I’m very much optimistic that we’ll qualify from the group to the next stage,” he said.

He also highlighted England as the standout challenge, but insisted the Three Lions would not intimidate the Black Stars.

“England might be a tough nut to crack, but looking at the form of our players, I’m very sure we’ll meet England boot for boot,” he asserted. “If England underrate us, we’ll beat them.”

Hon. Norgbey ended by reaffirming his belief that Ghana possesses the depth and quality to secure a place in the knockout rounds.

“If we don’t top Group L, we’ll place second and qualify for the Round of 16,” he concluded.
