Public Relations Officer of Hohoe United FC, Kenneth Asante, has assured supporters that the newly promoted side is determined to retain its Ghana Premier League status beyond their debut season.

Hohoe United sealed qualification to Ghana’s top tier over the weekend, capping off a remarkable campaign in the Access Bank Division One League Zone Three with a commanding 3-1 victory over Inter Allies in their final fixture.

In an interview with Citi Sports, Asante emphasized that the club is strategically preparing to avoid immediate relegation—a fate that has often befallen newly promoted teams in Ghana.

“Most definitely, we are not a team that qualifies to the Ghana Premier League and returns to play Division One the following season. I want to assure you that Hohoe United is going to break that jinx,” he declared.

“We are not going to play in the Ghana Premier League and come back, but then we are going to play and stay in the Ghana League—even though you will see us competing for the sole spot for Africa in the Ghana League,” Asante boldly added, signalling the club’s lofty ambitions.

Hohoe United’s promotion marks a historic moment for the club and the people of the Volta Region, as they prepare to battle some of the country’s most established sides in the top division.

Elsewhere, Swedru All Blacks also secured a long-awaited return to the Premier League, defeating New Edubiase United 3-0 in Zone Two to earn promotion after a 16-year absence.

In Zone One, the final ticket to the Ghana Premier League will be decided in a high-stakes playoff between Real Tamale United and Techiman Eleven Wonders, set for Friday, May 30 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
