Black Stars assistant coach John Paintsil has underscored the importance of Ghana’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad, labeling it as a crucial fixture in their qualification campaign.

Ghana will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before traveling to Morocco to face Madagascar on March 24.

With four games played, the Black Stars sit level at the top of Group I with Comoros, both teams having accumulated nine points. Ghana started the qualifiers with a win over Madagascar, followed by a defeat to Comoros, but bounced back impressively with victories against Mali and the Central African Republic.

Paintsil, speaking to Happy Sports, stressed the need for the team to seize the moment and take all three points.

“The Chad game is a must-win, and with the support of the fans, I know it will go well for us. We all know what qualifying for the World Cup will do—it will bring opportunities, open doors, and create investment platforms,” he emphasized.

Chad currently sits at the bottom of the group with just one point, while Madagascar is third with seven points. Due to Madagascar’s lack of a CAF-approved stadium, Ghana’s away fixture will be played in Al Hoceima, Morocco.

The Black Stars are determined to secure maximum points from these two fixtures to solidify their place at the top of the group and boost their World Cup qualification hopes.
