New Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has outlined an ambitious vision for Ghana’s football future, declaring that the nation has the potential to evolve into a “country of champions.”

The veteran tactician made the remarks during his official unveiling on April 23, where he addressed the media after taking charge on a short-term deal that runs through the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

With fewer than 50 days to the tournament, Queiroz inherits a team looking to recover from a difficult run of results under former coach Otto Addo. His immediate focus, however, is firmly fixed on delivering results on the biggest stage.

“In this moment, I have to put 99.9% of my attention on the results and the success of the World Cup,” he stated.

“I wish God blesses me with the right and best results for Ghana, and if it happens as I expect, I will be very happy to give my contribution.”

Beyond the short-term objective, Queiroz also pointed to Ghana’s long-term potential, highlighting the country’s deep footballing talent.

“This [Ghana] is a country of footballers. I believe that the day Ghana will be able to manage the present and the future in this way, this country will not be only a country of footballers but a country of champions,” he added.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L, where they will face England national football team, Croatia national football team and Panama national football team.
