Jordan Ayew Calls for Patience as Black Stars Begin New Era Under Queiroz
Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has urged Ghanaians to remain patient with the national team following their FIFA World Cup exit, insisting head coach Carlos Queiroz needs time to fully implement his ideas.
Ghana’s campaign came to an end after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32, ending hopes of reaching the last 16 for the first time since the 2010 tournament.
Despite the disappointment, Ayew believes the team’s performances throughout the competition showed encouraging signs under the Portuguese coach, who only took charge of the Black Stars a few months before the World Cup.
The experienced forward stressed that building a successful national team is a gradual process and warned against expecting immediate transformation.
“The new manager has only just arrived, and the team is still adapting to his style. You can’t expect everything to click in one or two months. Football doesn’t work that way, you have to be patient,” Ayew said after the defeat to Colombia.
Queiroz was appointed Ghana head coach earlier this year and guided the Black Stars into the knockout stage after an impressive group campaign that included victories over Panama and a hard-earned draw against England.
Although Ghana fell short against Colombia, the team earned praise for its improved defensive organisation and tactical discipline throughout the tournament.
