Asante Kotoko have been formally cited by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for misconduct following comments made on the club’s official social media pages after their 0–0 stalemate with FC Samartex on Matchday 11 of the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors were visibly unhappy with the officiating in Samreboi, especially the late penalty awarded to Samartex — a decision that sparked heated debate among supporters and pundits alike. Goalkeeper Mohammed Camara’s crucial save ensured Kotoko maintained their unbeaten start to the season, but the incident fueled frustration within the club.

Kotoko’s online reaction questioned the referee’s judgment, arguing that the foul leading to the penalty occurred outside the penalty area.

Per the GFA’s charge sheet, the club’s posts were considered inflammatory and likely to incite negative sentiments toward the match officials. The charge was issued under Section 34(6)(d) of the Premier League Regulations, which addresses conduct that tarnishes the image of the game. Kotoko have until Wednesday, November 26, 2025, to formally respond.

While Kotoko continue their strong pursuit of league leaders Aduana FC, the latest disciplinary case places renewed attention on the club’s communication strategies as the season unfolds.
