Fiorentina Announce Signing of Ghana Defender Tariq Lamptey
Serie A club Fiorentina have officially secured the services of Ghanaian right-back Tariq Lamptey from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 23-year-old defender joins the Italian side in a transfer deal worth £6 million, inclusive of add-ons. At Fiorentina, Lamptey will serve as a rotational option behind Brazilian full-back Dodô and has been assigned the No. 48 shirt for the new season.
Lamptey endured a difficult spell last term due to persistent injury setbacks, which restricted him to only 15 appearances for Brighton. Nonetheless, he still managed to register two goals and several assists during that period. His absence from Brighton’s opening three fixtures this season — against Fulham, Everton, and Oxford United — further underlined his limited role at the club.
Since his move from Chelsea to Brighton in 2020, the pacey full-back has featured 104 times for the Seagulls, scoring three goals and showcasing his adaptability on both flanks.
Lamptey will now begin a fresh chapter in Serie A while balancing national duties. He is expected to link up with his Black Stars teammates in Accra ahead of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounters against Chad and Mali later this month.
