Fatawu Issahaku Celebrates Championship Goal of the Month Award
Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has expressed his delight after being named the winner of the English Championship Goal of the Month for August.
The Leicester City winger claimed the award thanks to his stunning strike against Charlton Athletic at The Valley, a goal that sealed victory for the Foxes in their early-season clash.
“I’m really pleased and very proud to have won Goal of the Month. That goal was special, especially after missing so much football last season,” Issahaku said after receiving the honour.
Reflecting on the team’s performance, the 21-year-old praised the collective effort that made the moment possible. “It wasn’t just down to me, though; the whole team played well that day. Charlton are a good side, but we fought hard and got the three points,” he explained.
Issahaku added that the goal carried deep personal meaning, representing the rewards of his hard work. “Scoring that winner was a reward for all the effort. I always try to give everything, so it means a lot when I manage to score and help the team. Thanks to my teammates, the staff, all the fans — their belief drives me on. Let’s keep going and hopefully there are lots more moments like this ahead.”
The former Dreams FC star has been a standout for Leicester so far this season, with two goals and an assist in his opening five matches as the club targets promotion back to the Premier League.
