Black Starlets skipper Joseph Narbi has expressed confidence and pride as Ghana prepares to kick off their WAFU Zone B U-17 Boys Championship campaign in Ivory Coast.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s opening fixture against Togo at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, Narbi highlighted the role of the technical team in sharpening the squad’s readiness for the tournament.

“Our coaches have prepared us well. We’ve worked on our strengths and improved on areas that needed attention. We’re determined to make the country proud,” Narbi said.

The 16-year-old captain believes the intense preparations have boosted the players’ morale as they gear up to face tough opposition in Group A, which includes hosts Ivory Coast, Niger, and Togo.

In a further boost for the team, all 23 members of the squad passed the mandatory MRI age test, ensuring Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum and his staff have a full complement of players available for selection.

The Black Starlets are chasing more than just regional success, as the tournament also serves as the qualifying pathway to the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations. For Narbi and his teammates, the mission is clear: to revive Ghana’s rich history at youth level and book their ticket to continental football.
