“Running an Organization Requires Competence, Not Family and Friends”- Kwesi Nyantakyi
Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi has offered candid advice on leadership, emphasizing the need for competence over personal connections in managing an organization.
Nyantakyi’s comments came in response to current GFA President Kurt Okraku’s assertion that he cannot work with his “enemies.”
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM, Nyantakyi stressed that successful leadership hinges on selecting qualified individuals who can contribute to the growth and success of an organization, rather than relying on family and friends.
“Running an organization is not about family and friends,” he said. “It is about finding the competent people to help the organization succeed. During my tenure, I did not work with any of my family members.”
While not directly criticizing Okraku, Nyantakyi’s remarks highlight contrasting leadership philosophies. Nyantakyi’s comments come at a time when Ghanaian football fans are rallying for transparency and results over personal affiliations.
