Hearts of Oak settle on a Dutch tactician as head coach

Ghanaian heavyweights, Accra Hearts of Oak SC have settled with Dutch trainer Martin Koopman as new manager and now expected to arrive in Ghana latest Tuesday.

The Continental Club Masters few weeks ago, announced new direction to their technical team with the appointment of Rene Hiddink as technical director with other technical members. But without first team manager after Nigerian coach, Paul Aigbogun deal fell through.

News of Tunisian manager Khalil Abid becoming new manager has now fizzled into tin air.

Hearts of Oak SC are currently without a substantive manager after the departure of Serbian trainer Slavko Matic and assistant coach David Ocloo.

Nkrataasem.com understands that, Rene Hiddink who was recently named the technical director for Hearts of Oak SC have sealed contract talks with his countryman Martin Koopman to become new head coach.

With few weeks to start of 2023-24 league season in Ghana, Martin Koopman is expected to arrive in Ghana on Tuesday, August 15 to resume his duties.

Koopman, 67, is a former Netherlands defender who played for Go Ahead Eagles, FC Twente and Cambuur.

Since stepping into football management, he has since worked as youth team and assistant coaches at his former club, Go Ahead Eagles and Cambuur.

His other works include stints at FC Groningen, FC Den Bosch, Veendam, AS Vita Club, Saudi Arabia, Shenyang Ginde, Roda JC, Al Nassr, RKC Waalwijk, Aruba and lastly Maldives, all as an assistant coach.
