Ghana’s head coach, Chris Hughton has lauded Jordan Ayew on making 91 caps for the senior national team, Black Stars. The forward on Thursday, achieved a feet of 91 national team appearance after featuring in Ghana’s triumph over Central African Republic in Kumasi.

Jordan Ayew captained the team in their last 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier game against Central African Republic in the absence of his elder brother Andre Ayew and Thomas Partey. In leading the team, he made his mark of 91 caps.

Hughton who was on the bench and handed him [Jordan Ayew] 90′ minutes of action, believes he is a great example of dedication to the national cause.

Ayew currently is joint with John Paintsil as 4th most capped Ghanaian player but looks clear to surpass him if he plays against Liberia.

“One thing I can guarantee you is that no player can get to those numbers without a real desire to want to represent his country,” Hughton said.

“I can tell you that probably a third of the time when he’s turned up, he had little injuries or knocks that potentially maybe the club would have stopped him from coming. That is impossible. Credit to any player that gets to that level and real desire to be here.”

Ghana will face Liberia in a friendly game at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 12 with kickoff set for 4 p.m.
