Ghanaian astute football administrator, George Akwasi Afriyie last Friday received notice of his disqualification from the upcoming 2023 Ghana Football Association (GFA) Presidential Elections.

The owner and bankroller of lower-tier club Susubiribi SC, after confirming his decision to contest for the GFA Presidential seat, filed his nomination with a fee of GHC50,000. Completing his side of nomination having gotten some clubs to endorse his candidature for the elections, was slapped with a shock of disqualification.

Nevertheless, he has appealed.

On Monday, September 11, 2023 the former GFA Vice-president who is seeking for the role of President for the second time running, filed his appeal to his disqualification and was accompanied by Isaac Koomson, Ekyereko Emmanuel Frimpong and two lawyers to summit his documents.

Nkrataasem.com can confirm, George Afriyie has officially filed his appeal which was handed to secretary and receptionist at the headquarters of the Ghana Football Association in Accra, despite, being denied access to the premises by the securities for hours.

ACCOUNT OF DISQUALIFICATION

According to the Vetting Committee of the upcoming elections, one of George’s signatory Jeffrey Asare is not a Director of lower-tier club Victory Warriors which is owned by Leslie Kuuku Bartels. Therefore, breaches the code of the Association.
