Asante Kotoko have opened investigations into allegations of an attempted bribery involving members of the club’s playing body ahead of their final Ghana Premier League match against Swedru All Blacks last weekend.

The controversy emerged shortly before Sunday’s fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium, where reports suggested that an individual allegedly attempted to influence some players before the crucial encounter.

According to the club, the matter was internally reported by defender Patrick Asidu, who alerted management after becoming aware of the alleged incident.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, Kotoko confirmed that the Board and Management held discussions with players and members of the technical team on Monday to review the club’s disappointing 2025/26 season and address concerns surrounding the allegations.

The club stated that a formal inquiry has now been launched to establish the full details of the matter.

“Asante Kotoko treats issues of this nature with the utmost seriousness,” the statement said, while stressing that disciplinary action would be taken against anyone found culpable after investigations are concluded.

Management also praised Asiedu for what they described as professionalism and responsibility in reporting the issue through the appropriate channels.

The Porcupine Warriors reiterated their commitment to maintaining discipline, transparency and integrity within the club as they attempt to rebuild following a difficult campaign.

The off-field controversy came at a disappointing time for Kotoko, who later suffered a 2-1 defeat to Swedru All Blacks in their final league match of the season.
