Medeama SC to face Guinean club in second preliminary stage

Champions of Ghanaian league, Medeama SC have been paired with Guinean side Horoya AC in the second phase of the 2023-24 CAF Champions League Preliminary Round.

After eliminating Remo Stars SC in the first preliminary stage will battle it out with Horoya AC for Group stage qualification.

The Mauves and Yellow outfit thrashed the Nigerian outfit Remo Stars FC on Sunday via penalties, winning 3-2 after drawing 1-1 on aggregate having lost 1-0 in full time duration at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

The first leg went in favour of Medeama SC, with Jonathan Sowah’s 21st minute long range goal at the Cape Coast Stadium doing the magic for a 1-0 triumph. Having eliminated Remo Stars FC will take on Horoya AC. Medeama SC will first host Horoya AC in September 15, at the Cape Coast Stadium before the second leg on September 29, 2023 in Conakry.

Medeama SC are the 2022-23 league champions in Ghana, and for the first time makes it to the CAF Champions League after two appearances in the Confederation Cup.
