Bukari Targets Impact Over Numbers After Record-Breaking Switch to Widzew Łódź
Ghana international Osman Bukari has outlined his ambitions at Widzew Łódź, stressing that his focus is on contributing to team success rather than chasing personal statistics following his high-profile move to Poland.
The Black Stars winger completed a surprise transfer to the Ekstraklasa side on a four-and-a-half-year contract running until 2030, with reports indicating the deal is worth €5 million, a record fee in Polish league history.
Bukari arrives in Europe after a spell in Major League Soccer with Austin FC, where he featured prominently, recording six goals and eight assists in 50 appearances. After bidding farewell to Austin supporters with an emotional message, the winger quickly turned his attention to the next chapter of his career.
Speaking in his first interview as a Widzew player, Bukari made it clear that his priorities lie with the collective.
“I’m not saying I want to score 10, 15, or 20 goals. I want to be useful to the team and help them achieve results,” he said.
“The season is long, and there are ups and downs. I’d like to score and assist as much as possible.”
The 26-year-old also revealed that the opportunity to return to European football played a significant role in his decision to accept the move, viewing it as a platform to test himself at a higher level once again.
With expectations high following his arrival, Bukari is eager to settle quickly and make his mark, hoping his pace, creativity and experience can drive Widzew Łódź toward ambitious targets in the seasons ahead.
