Black Satellites Drawn with Nigeria in Tough WAFU B U-20 Championship Group
Ghana’s Black Satellites have been handed a challenging assignment after being paired with fierce rivals Nigeria in the group stage of the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship, the qualifying competition for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The draw was conducted on Wednesday, July 15, at the headquarters of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, bringing together the seven participating nations ahead of the regional tournament.
Placed in Group B, Ghana will not only renew one of African football’s greatest rivalries against Nigeria but will also take on Burkina Faso and Togo in what is widely expected to be the most competitive group of the championship.
The clash between Ghana and Nigeria is set to be one of the tournament’s headline fixtures, with both nations boasting proud traditions at youth level and sharing a long history of intense encounters.
Burkina Faso and Togo are also expected to provide stern opposition as the Black Satellites seek to secure one of the coveted qualification spots for the continental championship.
Meanwhile, Group A features tournament hosts Côte d’Ivoire alongside Benin and Niger, with the three sides battling for progression from the other pool.
