Ghana’s Black Queens will round off their preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with a high-profile friendly against regional rivals Nigeria on Saturday 18th July 2026 as they continue fine-tuning for the continental showpiece in Morocco.

The encounter against the Super Falcons will be Ghana’s final warm-up fixture before the tournament begins and follows an encouraging victory over Côte d’Ivoire earlier this week.

The Black Queens claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win in Casablanca on Tuesday, with substitute Sharon Sampson making the difference after coming off the bench to score the decisive goal.

The result handed head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren another positive outing as he continues to shape his squad ahead of the competition.

Facing Nigeria is expected to provide a sterner examination for the Black Queens, with the Super Falcons regarded as one of Africa’s strongest women’s national teams and perennial contenders for the continental title.

The friendly will offer Bjorkegren an opportunity to assess his team’s readiness against elite opposition before the tournament officially gets underway.

The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will kick off on July 26 and conclude with the final in Rabat on August 16.

Ghana have been drawn in Group D alongside Cape Verde, Cameroon and Mali, with the Black Queens aiming to make a strong impression during the group stage.

The team heads into the tournament looking to improve on its third-place finish from the previous edition while also chasing qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
