Ghana’s Black Queens have moved up one place in the latest FIFA Women’s Rankings, following their recent international friendly against Morocco.

Despite suffering a narrow defeat to the Atlas Lionesses, the West Africans now occupy 65th place globally, marking a steady rise fueled by their impressive performances since 2023.

On the African continent, Ghana has also climbed from sixth to fifth place, further solidifying their progress ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The United States continue to lead the FIFA rankings, followed closely by Spain, Germany, England, and Japan, who complete the top five.

Within Africa, Nigeria remains the highest-ranked women’s national team, followed by South Africa, Morocco, Zambia, and Ghana, rounding out the top five.

The Black Queens are set to make their first WAFCON appearance since 2018, having successfully secured qualification for the tournament in Morocco later this year. Drawn in Group C, they will face defending champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania in what promises to be a competitive campaign.

As part of their final preparations, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed a nine-day training camp in Senegal in April, aiming to sharpen the team ahead of their much-anticipated return to the continental stage.
