Black Princesses have secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after earning a crucial 1-1 draw against Uganda in Kampala.

The decisive qualifier, played at the FUFA Stadium on Saturday afternoon, saw the hosts make a bright start as they grabbed an early goal in the sixth minute to revive hopes of overturning their first-leg defeat in Accra.

Uganda carried their advantage into halftime, but the Black Princesses remained composed and gradually regained control of the contest as the second half progressed.

Their persistence paid off in the 78th minute when Linda Owusu Ansah found the equaliser, stunning the home supporters and effectively ending Uganda’s hopes of a comeback.

The result confirmed Ghana’s progression to the global tournament and extended the country’s impressive record at youth level, with the Black Princesses now set for an eighth consecutive appearance at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The tournament will take place later this year in Poland, where Ghana will once again aim to make an impact on the international stage.
