Ghana’s Black Maidens captured the maiden WAFU Zone B U17 Girls Cup title in dramatic fashion, defeating Nigeria in a nail-biting final on Sunday at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.

The Black Maidens seized control of the game early, with Gertrude Amoafo opening the scoring in the 14th minute. Just five minutes later, Priscilla Mensah doubled Ghana’s lead, leaving the home fans in raptures.

Demonstrating grit and determination, Nigeria staged an impressive comeback, scoring twice to level the game at 2-2. The spirited fightback set up a tense penalty shootout to decide the winner.
