Ghana’s Black Maidens have booked their place in the final round of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after sealing a comfortable 2-0 victory over Liberia on Saturday to complete an emphatic 8-0 aggregate triumph.

Heading into the return leg with a commanding six-goal advantage from the first meeting in Accra, the Black Maidens produced another assured display away from home to finish the job and move one step closer to qualification for the global tournament.

Head coach Nana Joe Adarkwa made several adjustments to his starting lineup, handing opportunities to Latifah Musah, Priscilla Mensah and Linda Achiaa as Ghana sought to maintain their dominance over the two-legged tie.

The opening exchanges produced opportunities at both ends, but it was Ghana who found the breakthrough after 15 minutes. Seidatu Wahab stepped up to convert a well-taken free kick, giving the visitors the lead and further tightening their grip on the contest.

The Black Maidens controlled proceedings for the remainder of the first half and carried their slender advantage into the break.

Ghana continued to dictate the pace after the restart and doubled their lead six minutes into the second half. Juliana Gyekyewaa followed Wahab’s example by finding the net from another free kick, effectively ending any hopes of a Liberian comeback.

With the tie firmly under control, the visitors managed the game professionally and ensured they completed the qualification round without conceding a goal across both matches.

The 2-0 win secured an overwhelming 8-0 aggregate success for Ghana, underlining the team’s dominance throughout the second-round encounter.

The Black Maidens will now face Senegal in the decisive final qualifying round, with a place at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup at stake. The two-legged showdown is scheduled to take place between July 3 and July 12.
