betPawa injects GHS 3.5 million into Ghana football ahead of World Cup and WAFCON
Ghana’s national teams have received a major financial boost ahead of two of their biggest assignments after betPawa committed GHS 3.5 million to support football development in the country.
The betting company unveiled a support package worth more than $300,000 during a partnership announcement event attended by officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), with the funding earmarked for preparations of both the Black Stars and Black Queens.
The investment comes at a crucial time as Ghana intensifies preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), providing additional resources to aid both teams in their respective campaigns.
Speaking at the launch, betPawa’s Head of Local Marketing and Corporate Social Responsibility, Borah Omary Ndanyungu, said the company remains committed to supporting the aspirations of Ghanaian football.
“Football is one of Ghana’s greatest unifiers. Every time the Black Stars or Black Queens step onto the pitch, millions of dreams travel with them.
“Our role is not simply to sponsor football, but to stand behind those dreams and help create the conditions for success. This support reflects our belief that when Ghanaian football wins, the entire nation moves forward together.”
The latest contribution adds to betPawa’s existing involvement in domestic football through its Locker Room Bonus initiative, which rewards players from winning teams in both the Ghana Premier League and the Women’s Premier League after every matchday.
Representing the GFA at the ceremony, Vice President Mark Addo welcomed the partnership and praised the company for its continued commitment to the sport.
“Today’s event and announcement matters to the GFA because it sends a clear message that Ghana football has partners that believes in its future.
“To the Black Stars and Black Queens, I say this, the support you receive today is not merely a reward. It is a vote of confidence in your ability and your character and your capacity to make Ghana proud,” he said.
Addo urged the players to embrace the responsibility that comes with representing the country on the international stage.
“Carry that responsibility with the humility, determination and purpose. To our friends at betPawa, thank you for your continued trust in Ghana Football. Thank you for investing in our players. Thank you for supporting our national teams and demonstrating that corporate partnerships can create a real impact where it matters most- in the life of athletes in the future of our game.”
The Black Stars will begin their World Cup campaign on June 17, while the Black Queens are set to compete at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in July as Ghana seeks success on both fronts.
