Prosper Ogum Analyzes Kotoko’s Strategy in Super Clash Victory
Asante Kotoko head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, shared insights into his team’s tactical approach following their hard-fought victory over rivals Hearts of Oak in the much-anticipated Super Clash at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
Reflecting on the match, Ogum acknowledged the intensity and competitiveness displayed by both sides, particularly in the first half.
“I think it was a very tight and compact game, especially if you look at how both teams played in the first half,” Ogum remarked during the post-match press conference.
Ogum highlighted Hearts of Oak’s direct style of play and explained how Kotoko adjusted their tactics to exploit opportunities.
“We realized they were direct in their approach. So we decided to leave Albert [Amoah] on top so that they could have three men and then launch the attack,” he said. “Out of that, we created a lot of chances.”
The tactical adjustment proved effective, as Albert Amoah scored the decisive goal late in the game, continuing his impressive form this season. Ogum also praised Hearts of Oak for their performance, acknowledging the quality they brought to the contest.
“Hearts of Oak played very well,” Ogum admitted, emphasizing the respect he has for the Phobians despite Kotoko securing the crucial three points.
