Ghanaian international Andre Ayew has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Olympique Marseille supporters following their touching gesture during Le Havre AC’s Ligue 1 clash against Marseille at the Stade Vélodrome on Sunday night.

The 34-year-old forward, who spent eight memorable years at Marseille, received a standing ovation from the Olympians’ faithful after scoring a consolation goal for Le Havre in their 5-1 defeat.

Ayew netted his first goal of the season in the 85th minute with a well-placed header off Antoine Joujou’s cross. Despite the heavy loss, the moment was significant for Ayew, who chose not to celebrate out of respect for his former club.

The Marseille supporters responded with a standing ovation, recognizing the respect and contribution Ayew has shown to the club both during and after his time there.

Speaking after the game, an emotional Ayew expressed his appreciation for the supporters and his enduring connection to Marseille.

“Honestly, I want to thank all the people of Marseille. I am touched from the bottom of my heart. This club has given me so much. After the Padre, everything he has done, I have left my mark. It has always been my dream club,” Ayew said.

Ayew has featured 10 times for Le Havre AC across all competitions this season, with his goal against Marseille marking his first for the campaign.
