Zlatko Dalić Praises Ghana’s Threat Ahead of Crucial World Cup Clash
Croatia head coach Zlatko Dalić has warned his players not to underestimate Ghana’s attacking threat despite the Black Stars’ disciplined defensive approach at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Croatian tactician believes Carlos Queiroz’s side have shown they can remain compact at the back while still creating dangerous opportunities in attack, making Saturday’s decisive Group L encounter a difficult challenge for his team.
Croatia head into the fixture knowing they need a positive result to keep their hopes of reaching the Round of 32 alive, while Ghana have already secured qualification after collecting four points from their opening two matches.
Speaking ahead of the showdown, Dalić highlighted Ghana’s tactical discipline and ability to threaten opponents even when spending long periods without possession.
“Ghana are a team that played with a low block against England and Panama, yet still created two and three clear chances.”
His comments reflect the respect Croatia have for the Black Stars following their impressive performances against both Panama and England, where Ghana combined organised defending with swift counter-attacking football.
The Black Stars opened their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Panama before frustrating one of the tournament favourites, England, in a goalless draw that secured their place in the knockout stage.
For Croatia, the meeting represents a must-win opportunity as they attempt to join Ghana in the Round of 32.
