“We were under pressure”- Otto Addo
Black Stars coach Otto Addo has shared his thoughts following Ghana’s draw with Angola in the AFCON Qualifiers
The four-time African Champions drew 1-1 with Angola yesterday in Luanda.
Acknowledging Angola’s impressive performance and highlighting his team’s shortcomings, Otto Addo revealed why Ghana failed to beat Angola.
“There’s not much to say. Congratulations to Angola for qualifying for the AFCON. They didn’t have to lose today,” Addo said in his post-match remarks. “You could see they played freely; we were more under pressure, and they pressed us very well and held us down in our half.”
Ghana, needing a positive result to keep their hopes alive, struggled to match Angola’s intensity and composure. Addo admitted that the Black Stars lacked the sharpness and urgency needed in such a critical game.
“We were missing our intensity, and I think it was not good enough from our side,” he added.
The loss marked a disappointing end to Ghana’s AFCON qualifying campaign, as the team failed to secure a spot in the continental tournament for the first time since 2004.
