Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has shared his thoughts on his team’s performance following their hard-fought 2-1 victory over Dreams FC at the Tuba Astroturf.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Ogum addressed concerns about his team’s endurance during the match, emphasizing that it was more about maintaining structure than physical stamina.

“I don’t think we were down in terms of strength and speed; we were down in terms of endurance,” he explained. “We lost our structure somewhere along the line, and sometimes when you lose your structure, it makes it look like we don’t have the endurance to continue.”

The coach credited his substitutions for restoring balance and stability in the latter stages of the game.

“When we did the substitutions, I think we had some solidity in the middle, we had some balance, we had some stability, and we got the game going, especially in the last 15 minutes,” Ogum added.

Reflecting on the impact of their recent derby victory over Hearts of Oak, Ogum noted that the energy exerted in such a high-profile match naturally had an effect on his players.

“You play a big game like Hearts of Oak, and they exerted a lot of energy on that day, so you expect energy levels to drop, but to me, it wasn’t that significant,” he stated.

The victory over Dreams FC marks Kotoko’s third consecutive win, following triumphs over Aduana Stars and Hearts of Oak. The Porcupine Warriors are now gaining momentum in their campaign as they aim to challenge for the Ghana Premier League title.
