Asante Kotoko captain, Samba O’Neil, has revealed that the Porcupine Warriors will use the upcoming GHALCA Top 4 competition as a key part of their preparations for the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

Kotoko are set to lock horns with sworn rivals Hearts of Oak, reigning Ghana Premier League champions Bibiani GoldStars, and Heart of Lions in the prestigious pre-season tournament, which kicks off on August 20 in Accra.

Speaking ahead of the competition, O’Neil underscored the importance of the Top 4 in shaping the team’s readiness for continental duties.

“The Top 4 is a very big competition and with a big history. We are using the competition to prepare for the Africa campaign,” he said.

The Porcupine Warriors are returning to continental football for the first time since 2022, having booked their place in the Confederation Cup after clinching the Ghana FA Cup title last season.

Kotoko will host Nigeria’s Kwara United in the first leg of the preliminary round between September 19 and 21, before traveling for the return fixture from September 26 to 28.

The club’s leadership and fans are hopeful that the Top 4 will provide the perfect test ahead of the much-anticipated African campaign.
