Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member, Sammy Anim Addo, has launched a scathing attack on the GFA, accusing referee Maxwell Hanson of being their go-to official for questionable officiating decisions.

His comments come in the wake of Accra Lions’ complaints over Hanson’s handling of their recent 1-0 defeat to Dreams FC in the Ghana Premier League.

Accra Lions have publicly expressed their displeasure, alleging they were “robbed” and calling for urgent reforms in officiating standards within Ghanaian football.

Sammy Anim Addo, who also serves as the President of Young Apostles FC, joined the chorus of criticism, labeling Hanson a “hatchet man” and accusing the GFA leadership of silencing dissenting voices.

“Maxwell Hanson is their man for ‘dirty works,’” Anim Addo wrote on X “I sounded the alarm bells months ago, but I was vehemently challenged with every attempt to ‘shush’ me by the leadership of Ghana Football… His disgraceful conduct undermines the league’s quality.”

“I have been threatened many times already that this GFA administration will ensure foul means to relegate my club, Young Apostles. But I want to sound caution to them that it is not the worst they can do to me and my continuous investment and commitment to Ghana football,” he stated.

The controversy surrounding Maxwell Hanson’s officiating and the GFA’s alleged handling of dissent raises broader concerns about the transparency and integrity of Ghanaian football.
