Salifu Shaibu Zida picks form for Upper East RFA chairmanship position

The President and bankroller of former Ghana Premier League side Bolga All Stars SC, Mr. Alhaji Salifu Shaibu Zida has officially picked his form to contest for the 2023 GFA elections.

Zida, following the Ghana Football Association(GFA) decision to open nomination for all interested persons to contest in the upcoming GFA elections on Monday August 7 2023, availed himself for election by picking form for the Upper East Regional Football Association chairmanship position.

The Incumbent RFA boss, will vy for the big position once again after successfully picking and filling his form from the Association Secretariat on Monday.

Speaking to Kolog Bonaventure, the astute administrator confirmed picking his form and disclosed why he ought to; “Am working with people and my priority is to serve them with what ought to develop Football in the region, so obviously if they still want me why must I decline”

“I think my contribution to Football development in the Upper East is appreciated and they believe I can offer more, so I need to listen to them and not disappoint. I picked forms for the Regional Football Association chairmanship position but not the Executive Council.

When asked whether we will be seeing him contest at the GFA Executive Council level, he said; “Why not, I have to pull strings to help my region develop when it comes to Football and also contribute to the growth of Ghana Football because am amongst the few long-serving members of the FA currently and atleast our experience will be needed to drive the good course of football”

“So obviously, will contest when the nomination opens”.

Salyman as popularly referred, is a long-serving member of the Ghana Football Association. He was elected unto the GFA ExCO in 2011, when he first won the Upper East RFA chairman position.

The Accountant by Profession despite the change of system in 2019 GFA elections when they offered only two slots to the 10 Regional Football Association Chairmen on the Executive Council, Zida defiled all odds to grab one slot due to his leadership abilities and good working relationship aside his hardworking attitude.

He has in-depth knowledge in football and also has Upper East Football at heart, with ambition of lifting it to another height full of success.

His lobbying skills ensured the Upper East Region grab a copy of Prampram project in Winkogo, Bolgatanga when FIFA Forward 1.0 project raised a whole edifice of well constructed astro turf project in the Upper East Region to serve as venue of unearthing the new Abedi Pele, Ohene Gyan, Stephen Appiah, Michael Essien, Tony Baffoe, Tony Yeboah, Asamoah Gyan amongst other legends.

Salifu Zida has held position such as, Black Queens Management Committee Vice Chairman, Black Starlets Management Committee chairman. He also worked on the finance Committee of the Ghana Football Association.

Under his tenure in 2020-21 league season, as Referees appointment Committee chairman, the Association recorded massive improvement in officiating especially in the Ghanaian top-flight.
