Black Queens forward Princella Adubea has highlighted the significant progress made in women’s football in Ghana and called on sponsors to play a more active role in supporting the women’s game.

Her appeal comes on the back of Ghana’s impressive run at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where the Black Queens secured a bronze medal.

Speaking on Fire for Fire on Adom TV, Adubea acknowledged the growth of the sport in recent years but stressed the need for increased investment to sustain and accelerate its development — particularly at the local level.

“Women football has developed in Ghana a lot. Sponsors should help develop the women’s game. This will help the local players,” she said.

Adubea’s remarks underscore the importance of financial backing to improve infrastructure, training facilities, and player welfare, especially for those playing in the domestic league. With enhanced sponsorship and corporate partnerships, she believes local talent can flourish and help elevate the national team further.
