Ghanaian midfielder Elisha Owusu has shared his disappointment at being ruled out of the Black Stars’ upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar due to injury.

Despite his absence, he remains fully confident in the team’s ability to deliver results.

Owusu was initially named in Otto Addo’s 23-man squad for the qualifiers but was later forced to withdraw after sustaining an injury over the weekend while playing for AJ Auxerre. His place in the squad has since been taken by Lawrence Agyekum.

Addressing his situation, Owusu admitted it was frustrating to miss out on the opportunity to represent his country but assured that his full focus is now on recovery.

“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to join the squad for our FIFA World Cup qualifiers due to injury, but I have full confidence in my teammates to get the job done,” Owusu shared on his social media platforms.

While disappointed, the midfield dynamo is choosing to remain positive, trusting that his teammates will rise to the occasion.

“It’s never easy to miss out, but I believe everything happens for a reason, and my focus now is on recovery. I know this team is ready to fight, and I’ll be supporting every step of the way,” he added.

“To the fans, your support means everything. Keep believing in the team, and let’s push forward together!”

The Black Stars will return to action on Friday, March 21, when they face Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium. They will then travel to Morocco on March 24 to take on Madagascar in another high-stakes qualifier.
