Otto Addo Targets Victory as Black Stars Aim to End World Cup Qualifiers on a High

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has expressed his desire to see Ghana close out their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with a win when they take on Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12, at 19:00 GMT.

Ghana head into the decisive fixture needing just a single point to secure qualification for the global showpiece, having dismantled the Central African Republic in their previous match on Matchday 9. The team currently sits three points clear of Madagascar, who are still mathematically in contention.

Despite the Black Stars being just one result away from a fifth World Cup appearance in six editions, Otto Addo insists that his side must approach the match with a winning mentality and not take anything for granted.

“This is where everybody should show how professional they are. I’ve seen a lot in football, a lot. I once led with my team 4-0, and we lost 6-4,” Addo said during his pre-match press conference.

“In football, anything can happen. We’re not done until we’re done. I think we want to end this qualification with a victory. This is for sure,” he added.

The German-born tactician is expected to name a strong starting lineup against Comoros as Ghana seek to wrap up qualification in style before shifting focus to preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
