Otto Addo Names 24-Man Squad for World Cup Qualifiers Against Chad and Mali
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has unveiled a 24-man squad for Ghana’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Chad and Mali next month.
The squad sees the return of established regulars including Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, Gideon Mensah, Antoine Semenyo, and Inaki Williams.
A major highlight of the call-up is the inclusion of Derrick Arthur Köhn, who earns his maiden invitation to the senior national team. The 26-year-old left-back, now with Union Berlin, impressed last season during his loan spell with Werder Bremen, making 27 Bundesliga appearances and scoring twice. Köhn completed a permanent move from Galatasaray to Union Berlin earlier this summer.
There is also a return for Kamal Deen Sulemana, who has rediscovered form after sealing a move from Southampton to Atalanta in Italy’s Serie A. Meanwhile, Elisha Owusu makes a comeback after overcoming a lengthy injury layoff.
Promising youngster Caleb Yirenkyi has also been rewarded with his first competitive call-up following standout performances for FC Nordsjaelland and at the Unity Cup in London. In addition, Tariq Lamptey returns to the fold, while Christopher Bonsu Baah and Joseph Anang—a goalkeeper based in Ireland—have both been handed opportunities in the double-header.
Ghana currently sits at the summit of Group I in the African qualifiers, with 15 points from six games (five wins and one defeat).
The Black Stars will travel to face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on Thursday, September 4, before returning home to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8, 2025.
